About this role
In this role, you will be the driving force for site safety, actively monitoring EPC contractor activities and enforcing strict health, safety, and environmental protocols. You will bridge field inspections with regulatory compliance—ensuring high-hazard work like confined space entry, lifting, and hot work are executed without compromise The Tech Stack Deep-Dive Regulations, Standards & Certifications Must-Haves: South African OHS Act, Construction Regulations, environmental compliance, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or recognized ISO 45001/14001 training. Nice-to-Haves: Advanced Incident Investigation certification, specialized First Aid, and Firefighting qualifications. High-Hazard Risk Management & Field Ops Must-Haves: Permit-to-Work (PTW) management, hot work controls, working at height, lifting operations, and confined space safety protocols. Nice-to-Haves: Hydrocarbon containment, spill response management, and specialized petroleum storage safety controls. Deliverables, Audit & Tooling Must-Haves: Reviewing Risk Assessments (HRA/HIRA), Method Statements, executing site audits, and digital HSE reporting/action tracking tools. Nice-to-Haves: Previous experience operating within an Owner’s Team, PMC, or Client Representative structure on major capital projects. Key Responsibilities (Keep it brief) Site Presence & Active Intervention: Maintain an active field footprint to inspect ongoing works, verify permit conditions, and confidently stop unsafe acts or conditions. Compliance & Risk Review: Critically evaluate contractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and execution plans to ensure strict compliance with statutory legislation and site standards. Incident Management & Reporting: Lead site hazard identifications, monitor environmental controls, track corrective actions, and prepare digital HSE reports and statistics for project leaderships
