About this role
In this role, you will act as the principal client-side project authority, managing high-value EPC contractors to deliver major capital assets safely, on budget, and on schedule. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle—from interdisciplinary engineering design through heavy construction, start-up, and operational commissioning. The Tech Stack Deep-Dive Core Domain & Facility Assets Must-Haves: Bulk liquid/petroleum storage tanks, high-pressure piping, pumping networks, utilities, civil works, and offloading systems. Nice-to-Haves: Integrated terminal automation, fire protection systems, and hazardous facility electrical/instrumentation. Project Management, Controls & Governance Must-Haves: EPC contract execution, change & claims management, schedule control, budget/cost management, risk registers, and contractor performance tracking. Nice-to-Haves: PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certifications. Safety, Codes & Standards Must-Haves: Regulatory approvals, environmental compliance, safety management systems, and knowledge of API, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, IEC, and SANS codes. Nice-to-Haves: Previous direct experience in South African or similar regulatory environments for hazardous materials assets. Key Responsibilities (Keep it brief) EPC Oversight & Contract Management: Critically evaluate and hold EPC contractors accountable to contract scope, schedule baselines, variation claims, and milestone deliverables. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Leadership: Direct multidisciplinary engineering, HSE, QA/QC, and construction teams while communicating key project risks and updates to senior executives. Commissioning & Handover Execution: Lead overall project governance through construction, pre-commissioning, start-up, and formal operational handover
