About this role
Step into a key finance leadership role directly reporting to the CFO across a multi-entity operational group, driving group consolidations, rolling 13-week cash flow modeling, tonnage-based costing, and Sage 200 Evolution systems across site operations. A well-established, multi-entity heavy industry group operating across the mining, quarrying, aggregates, and construction materials sectors is seeking an operationally sharp, commercially minded Financial Manager. This position is custom-built for an assertive, hands-on finance leader who excels at bridging high-level group consolidations with granular on-site operational controls, inventory management, and variance analysis. Operating as a strategic right-hand partner to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you will hold direct accountability for the group's monthly financial close across multiple operating entities, delivering finalized management accounts by the strict monthly deadline. You will oversee rolling 13-week cash flow projections, intercompany eliminations, annual budgeting cycles, bulk stock counts (fuel, spare parts, aggregate stockpiles), and statutory SARS compliance. The work culture is high-governance, fast-paced, and operational, requiring regular travel to site operations in Limpopo and Lanseria. If you are a BCom graduate with completed articles, a professional designation (such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, AGA(SA), or Professional Accountant SA), and deep experience in heavy industrial or tonnage-based environments, this market leader offers an exceptional executive career platform. Key Responsibilities: Group Reporting & Consolidations: Lead the full monthly financial close across all operating entities, preparing multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, journal reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations under IFRS for SMEs. FP&A, Budgeting & Cash Flow Modeling: Direct the annual multi-unit budgeting cycle, deliver actual-versus-budget variance analysis, and maintain complete ownership of the group's rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and working capital. Operational Inventory & Site Controls: Enforce physical stock and bulk inventory controls across fuel, spare parts, and aggregate stockpiles, ensuring accurate tonnage-based costing, stock count integrity, and site-level financial accountability. Taxation, Statutory & Audit Governance: Oversee full-suite SARS compliance (VAT, Corporate Income Tax, payroll statutory submissions), prepare annual financial statements, lead external audit pipelines, and manage funder reporting and covenant tracking. Team Leadership & Operational Partnering: Lead, mentor, and build capacity within the finance team while partnering directly with Site Managers and operational leadership to enforce delegation of authority and drive financial performance. Job Experience and Skills Required: Formal Education (Non-Negotiable): A completed BCom or BCompt Degree in Accounting or Financial Management; completed formal articles is preferred. Professional Qualifications (Preferred): Active professional designation as a CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, AGA(SA), or Professional Accountant (SA). Licensing & Travel: Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel regularly to operational sites in Limpopo and Lanseria. Experience Track Record: 5 to 8 years of progressive experience within financial accounting, management accounting, and multi-entity consolidations. Minimum of 2 years in a management role directly supervising finance staff. Explicit commercial experience within mining, quarrying, aggregates, construction materials, or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors. Highly advantageous: Tonnage-based costing, bulk inventory governance, fuel/spares stock control, and contract supply arrangement exposure. Systems & Technical Capabilities: Advanced operational command of Microsoft Excel. Practical experience on Sage 200 Evolution is highly advantageous (or strong comparable enterprise ERP software experience). Practical understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act is advantageous. Non-negotiables: Elite analytical capabilities, assertive stakeholder management habits, strong leadership skills, and the willingness to engage directly with site operations beyond the spreadsheet. What is on offer (Why Apply): Strategic finance seat directly advising the Group CFO within a well-capitalized heavy industry group. Broad operational responsibility spanning multi-entity consolidations, tonnage costing, 13-week cash flow forecasting, and site inventory governance.
