Head of Manufacturing & Production – Cape Town Engineering & Manufacturing Full-time | On-site Our client is an established Southern African engineering and manufacturing business with decades of experience designing, manufacturing and distributing high-performance industrial equipment across sectors including mining, power generation, marine and HVAC. They are seeking an experienced Head of Manufacturing & Production to provide strategic and operational leadership across the manufacturing environment, overseeing fabrication, machining, assembly and finishing while driving production performance, efficiency and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and overall management of manufacturing and production operations. Develop and manage production planning and scheduling to ensure production targets and customer deadlines are achieved. Translate sales requirements into realistic production plans based on capacity, labour, machinery, materials and lead times. Monitor production progress, identify bottlenecks and delays, and implement corrective action. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, improve efficiency, reduce waste and optimise manufacturing processes. Ensure manufacturing processes and outputs meet required quality standards. Work closely with Engineering, Sales, Procurement and Logistics to ensure effective planning and operational flow. Ensure materials, drawings, labour, machinery and other resources are available to support production requirements. Oversee manufacturing processes and ensure operational procedures, policies and controls are implemented and maintained. Lead, develop and mentor factory managers, supervisors, artisans and production teams. Promote communication, teamwork, employee engagement and accountability across the manufacturing environment. Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and promote a strong safety culture. Take ownership of production challenges and provide practical, timely and commercially sound solutions. Requirements Minimum N5 tertiary qualification. Proven experience in a senior production, manufacturing or factory management role. Strong experience within manufacturing and metal fabrication environments. Proven experience in production planning, scheduling and capacity management. Experience managing complex production environments with multiple projects, competing priorities and deadlines. Experience with production management systems, ERP systems or manufacturing software will be advantageous.
