Applications Engineer – Cape Town Engineering & Manufacturing Full-time | On-site Our client is an established air systems engineering business specialising in large turnkey projects across the mining, power generation, industrial processing, agricultural, marine, poultry, commercial and HVAC sectors. They are seeking an Applications Engineer to join a collaborative team of mechanical engineers and take ownership of ventilation and air-handling projects from concept through to commissioning. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale projects while developing both technical and commercial engineering expertise. Key responsibilities Interpret client specifications, tender documents and technical requirements. Design and select appropriate ventilation and fan systems. Prepare technical proposals, equipment schedules and detailed costings. Engage with clients to clarify requirements and present technical solutions. Liaise with draughting, production and installation teams to ensure practical and cost-effective designs. Provide commissioning support and technical troubleshooting when required. Ensure designs and solutions comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Attend site visits and client meetings as required. Manage multiple projects while maintaining quality, accuracy and project timelines. Requirements BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering. Proven experience in a mechanical engineering role. Experience in ventilation, HVAC, fan systems or industrial air movement applications will be advantageous. Bilingual in English and Afrikaans. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach. Commercial awareness and a cost-conscious mindset. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently. Strong team-oriented and collaborative approach. Professional and presentable manner. Results-driven with a strong customer-service focus.
