Company and Job Description: A well-established South African organisation within the manufacturing and product-focused sector is looking for a Financial Accountant to join its Finance team. This is an opportunity for a technically strong accountant to take ownership of financial reporting while contributing to automation, process improvement and finance transformation . The role will suit someone who enjoys understanding how things work, identifying inefficiencies and finding practical solutions that improve the way Finance operates. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports Manage general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare and post month-end and year-end journals Manage financial reporting and ensure accurate financial information Support budgeting and forecasting processes Monitor financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies Assist with audit processes and prepare supporting schedules Analyse financial results and identify trends and variances Identify opportunities to automate and streamline finance processes Lead or support finance process improvement initiatives Assist with system and process optimisation Identify inefficiencies and develop practical solutions Provide financial insight and analysis to management Work closely with operational and finance stakeholders Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting requirements Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members where required Job Experience and Skills Required: Qualification: CA(SA) or CIMA qualification Relevant accounting or finance degree Experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience Strong financial accounting experience Manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical or product-focused industry experience advantageous Strong process improvement experience Exposure to automation and finance transformation Previous leadership or team guidance experience advantageous Strong financial reporting experience Technical Skills: Syspro experience advantageous / required for the role Financial reporting Management accounting Process improvement Finance automation Budgeting and forecasting Financial analysis Strong Microsoft Excel skills ERP and financial systems experience The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is: A natural problem solver Commercially minded and analytical Technically strong Proactive and improvement-focused Comfortable challenging inefficient processes Curious about automation and technology Able to take ownership and drive initiatives A confident communicator Strong in leadership and stakeholder management Highly organised and detail-oriented Comfortable working in a dynamic environment Focused on finding practical solutions rather than simply identifying problems Why consider this opportunity?
