Company and Job Description: A well-established industrial organisation is looking for a Cost Accountant to join its Finance team in JHB East. The business operates within a manufacturing environment where accurate costing, financial analysis and strong cost controls are critical to operational and financial performance. This is an opportunity for a technically strong Cost Accountant to work closely with operational and finance teams while gaining exposure to the full manufacturing cost cycle. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain product and manufacturing costing Analyse production costs and identify cost variances Prepare and review standard and actual costing Perform variance analysis and investigate cost discrepancies Monitor raw material, labour and overhead costs Assist with inventory valuation and stock reconciliations Analyse production costs and manufacturing margins Prepare cost reports and management information Support budgeting and forecasting processes Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting Maintain accurate cost accounting records Monitor manufacturing cost controls and identify areas of inefficiency Provide financial insight to operational and production teams Assist with financial analysis and ad hoc costing projects Support audit requirements relating to costing and inventory Job Experience and Skills Required: Qualification: B.Com Accounting, Finance or relevant qualification Completed articles advantageous Experience: Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience Manufacturing experience is essential Strong cost accounting experience Product and manufacturing costing experience Exposure to inventory and stock accounting Experience with variance analysis Financial analysis experience advantageous Technical Skills: Cost accounting Standard costing Product costing Variance analysis Inventory accounting Manufacturing finance Financial analysis Advanced Microsoft Excel The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is: Highly analytical and detail-oriented Commercially minded Strong technically Results-driven and deadline-focused Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment Able to investigate and explain cost variances Proactive and solutions-driven Strong in communication and stakeholder management Able to work independently and as part of a team Focused on data accuracy and financial integrity Why consider this opportunity?
