A rare opportunity has opened for a commercially minded finance leader to step into a hands-on CFO role at a growing, owner-managed business with real scope to influence strategy, operations and future scale. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this position offers broad exposure across finance, inventory, imports, cash flow, funding, systems and cross-functional decision-making, with the chance to act as a trusted second-in-command in a business that values practical thinking, accountability and growth. The role suits a leader who enjoys getting close to the detail, partnering with operational teams and helping shape a business that is building for its next phase of expansion. CA(SA) or CIMA qualification 10+ years post-qualification experience, including at least 3 years in a CFO, FD or Head of Finance role Strong hands-on people management experience, including performance management, staff development and employee relations Experience partnering directly with a founder, owner or MD in a practical 2IC capacity Strong working capital, cash flow forecasting, funding and banking experience, including trade and import finance Practical foreign exchange management experience for international supplier payments, plus sound knowledge of South African tax, customs, labour legislation and statutory compliance Commercial and operational understanding, with experience in financial modelling, business cases and deal structuring; exposure to M&A or capital raising is advantageous Experience in FMCG, retail, distribution, manufacturing, imports, supply chain or e-commerce is highly advantageous, with Xero and Cin7 Core a bonus As Specialist Recruiters for professionals in your industry, we are well geared to represent your best career interests.
