About this role
We are looking for a passionate, driven SQL Developer to play a critical role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive key business decisions. We have a permanent role based in Cape Town. Responsibilities - Developing, deploying, and maintaining business intelligence solutions, including dashboards and reports. - Creating and optimizing data models to support reporting and visualization needs. - Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable insights. - Working with data engineers to integrate data from various sources into the business intelligence data models. - Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality in all reporting outputs. - Automating data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes where feasible. - Analysis of data from various sources to ensure that the business acts proactively on the information at its disposal. - Continually searching for new and useful ways to obtain, integrate and analyses data that is relevant to the company’s business model. - Debugging, monitoring and troubleshooting current solutions. - Education of report end-users to ensure a maximum spread of expertise around the company. Requirements - Undergraduate degree with majors in Information Systems / Mathematics / Statistics / Engineering, Finance or similar. Alternatively, at least 3 years' work experience in a business intelligence / engineering role will be considered. A relevant post-graduate degree will be a strong plus. - Strong SQL Development skills and full Microsoft BI Stack knowledge (SSMS, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS). - Experience working with large datasets and optimizing performance in business intelligence tools. - Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration techniques. - 3+ years’ experience in business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau. - Experience developing dashboards, reports and visualizations for business insights. - Ability to gather and translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs - Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations. - Experience with scripting languages such as Python or R for data analysis. - Familiar with statistical testing techniques.
