Internal Auditor | Retail Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng Industry: Retail Experience: 2–5 years Employment Type: Permanent About the Opportunity A leading and well-established organisation within the retail industry is looking for a dynamic Internal Auditor to join their team in Johannesburg. This is an excellent opportunity for an Internal Auditor with 2–5 years of experience within the retail industry who is looking to grow their career within a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Key Responsibilities Conduct risk-based internal audits across various retail stores and business functions. Travel to various stores and locations to conduct on-site audits. Evaluate internal controls, processes, procedures and governance frameworks. Assess stock controls, operational processes and compliance with company policies. Identify control weaknesses, risks and areas for improvement. Develop clear, practical audit findings and recommendations. Prepare detailed and accurate internal audit reports. Perform follow-up audits to assess the implementation of recommendations. Assist with risk assessments and annual audit planning. Engage with store management and relevant stakeholders regarding audit findings. Communicate audit findings and recommendations effectively to management. Monitor corrective actions and provide input on improvements to internal controls. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the business. Ensure audits are conducted in line with relevant internal policies, procedures and professional standards. Requirements 2–5 years' experience in Internal Auditing. Retail industry experience is essential. Relevant degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or a related field. Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, governance and audit principles. Experience conducting risk-based internal audits. Valid driver's licence is essential. Own reliable vehicle is essential. Must be comfortable with regular travel to various stores and locations . Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong report-writing and presentation skills. High attention to detail. Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Professional audit qualification or progress towards one will be advantageous. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an analytical, commercially minded and proactive Internal Auditor who enjoys being out in the business and engaging with different stakeholders. You should be comfortable working independently, asking the right questions, identifying potential risks and challenging processes where necessary.
