Company and Job Description: A growing South African organisation within the energy and fuel sector is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Finance team in JHB South. This is a hands-on accounting opportunity within a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for a broad range of financial accounting activities and provide support to management. The role would suit a confident and proactive accountant who enjoys taking ownership, working at pace and being closely involved in the day-to-day finance function. Key Responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day financial accounting function Prepare and review monthly financial information and management reports Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate accounting records Prepare and process journals and accounting entries Perform monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting Monitor and maintain accurate financial records Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes Prepare financial analysis and reporting for management Support audit processes and provide required financial information Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and procedures Assist with statutory and tax-related requirements Identify discrepancies and investigate financial variances Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and controls Job Experience and Skills Required: Qualification: B.Com Accounting, Finance or relevant qualification Experience: 3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience Strong financial accounting experience Experience within a commercial environment Exposure to month-end and year-end processes Experience with reconciliations and general ledger management Management reporting experience advantageous Industry experience is open Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills Financial accounting General ledger Reconciliations Management reporting Month-end reporting Financial analysis Strong attention to detail The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is: Confident and has a strong personality Proactive and takes ownership Hands-on and willing to get involved Highly accurate and detail-oriented Able to work under pressure Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Strong in communication and stakeholder engagement Analytical and solutions-driven Reliable and accountable Able to work independently while contributing to the wider team Why consider this opportunity?
