A leading organization is seeking an experienced Group Tax Manager to take ownership of the Group’s tax position and provide strategic, commercially focused tax advice across the business. This is a senior technical role that partners closely with Finance, Legal, Payroll, Operations, Procurement, Treasury and customer-facing teams. The successful candidate will be expected to exercise independent technical judgement, provide clear recommendations and lead the implementation of tax strategies and solutions. Key Responsibilities Advise on corporate, ownership, operating, funding and transaction structures, including new markets and restructurings. Review customer, supplier and intercompany contracts from a tax perspective. Provide advice on VAT, withholding tax, permanent establishment, customs, invoicing entities and transaction-related taxes. Manage international tax, transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, cross-border funding and cash repatriation. Manage the Group tax calendar, compliance requirements, tax reporting and tax risk. Review tax calculations, provisions, reconciliations, deferred tax and financial statement disclosures. Lead SARS audits, queries, objections, appeals and disputes. Manage external tax advisers and independently assess technical advice. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and implement required changes. Partner with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Payroll, Operations and Procurement on tax-related matters. Provide functional direction to regional finance teams and service providers. Improve tax processes, controls, data quality, automation and system integration. Job Experience and Skills Required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or Law. Postgraduate tax qualification or equivalent specialist accreditation. At least 5 years’ relevant tax experience, including tax advisory, tax management and in-house experience within a multinational business. Experience with Sage ERP or similar accounting systems. Experience with tax authority audits, objections and disputes, including engagement with SARS and the LBC. Experience in corporate and deal structuring. Strong exposure to international tax, withholding tax and treaty matters. Experience with indirect tax, transfer pricing and intercompany agreements. Experience with cash repatriation and intercompany funding. Experience reviewing commercial contracts and managing external advisers. Strong knowledge of South African corporate tax legislation and international corporate tax principles. Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, leadership and management skills.
