An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and hands-on Financial Accountant to join a fast-growing media and advertising organisation based in Sandton. Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the full accounting function while contributing to accurate monthly reporting, strong financial controls and the effective management of client-related financial activities. Key Responsibilities Manage the full accounting function, including debtors, creditors, petty cash, banking and monthly reporting. Maintain the cash book and perform daily bank reconciliations. Manage the creditors function, including supplier payments and statement reconciliations. Oversee the debtors function, including collections and debtor account reconciliations. Prepare monthly debtors and creditors age analyses. Reconcile payroll information received from third-party payroll administrators to bank payments. Assist with the preparation and payment of EMP201 returns. Assist with VAT reconciliations, returns and payments. Perform monthly credit card reconciliations. Complete asset and liability reconciliations. Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger and reconcile it to the general ledger. Reconcile client jobs and engage with the traffic team during the client charge-out process. Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts. Prepare audit schedules and assist with managing the external audit process. Support the implementation and maintenance of effective financial controls and processes. Qualifications and Experience A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance would be advantageous. A minimum of five years’ relevant accounting experience is preferred. Strong practical knowledge of financial accounting, taxation and balance-sheet reconciliations. Experience managing debtors, creditors, cash books and bank reconciliations. Exposure to monthly management accounts and external audits. Previous experience within the media, advertising, marketing or a project-driven environment would be advantageous. Experience working with Deltek WorkBook would be highly advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
