FinOps Operational Analyst (AWS & Azure) Contract: 6 Months Position Overview Our client is seeking a hands-on FinOps Operational Analyst to support its Cloud Centre of Excellence across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments. This is a highly technical FinOps role, combining cloud-cost management, financial analysis, reporting, optimisation and automation. Key Responsibilities Manage AWS and Azure cloud-cost reporting, budgets and forecasts. Improve tagging, cost allocation, showback and chargeback. Analyse cloud billing and usage data to identify trends, anomalies and cost-saving opportunities. Develop dashboards, variance reports and optimisation insights. Support rightsizing, scheduling, clean-up and licensing optimisation. Manage Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Azure Reservations and Azure Hybrid Benefit. Develop queries, scripts, dashboards and automation to reduce manual processes. Track optimisation initiatives and realised savings. Provide FinOps support to Finance, Engineering, Architecture, Procurement and business teams. Develop FinOps procedures, runbooks and self-service guidance. Requirements 4–7+ years' relevant experience in FinOps, cloud-cost management, IT financial management, cloud operations or technology cost management. Hands-on experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure billing and cost-management platforms. Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, Azure Cost Management and Azure Advisor. Strong understanding of cloud cost optimisation, tagging, allocation, budgets and anomaly management. Experience with Power BI, Advanced Excel, SQL, Python, PowerShell, APIs or similar tools. Strong financial and commercial understanding of budgets, forecasts, allocations and recoveries. Ability to translate complex technical and financial data into actionable business insights. FinOps Certified Practitioner certification or willingness to obtain it. Advantageous MagicOrange or similar IT financial-management platform experience. Snowflake, JDE, ServiceNow, Datadog or CMDB experience. Financial-services or regulated-industry experience. Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code or cloud automation experience.
