Our client in the Engineering Industry is seeking to employ a Pipe Fitter to join their team. Please note that this is a fixed-term contract. Location: Wellington, Western Cape Efficiency Staffing Solutions (Pty) Ltd Registration No. 2022/876857/07 Duties & Responsibilities Installation of Piping Systems Assemble, install and maintain piping systems used in petrochemical plants for the transportation of chemicals, gases and liquids. Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings and pipe specifications to ensure precise installation. Maintenance and Repair Inspect and troubleshoot existing piping systems for leaks, corrosion or wear. Perform repairs by cutting, welding or replacing damaged pipe sections. Safety Compliance Adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent chemical exposure, explosions and other hazards. Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow industry standards for working in high-risk environments. Testing and Inspection Ensure all piping systems meet regulatory and quality standards. Material Handling and Preparation Select appropriate pipe materials based on the type of chemicals or gases being transported (e.g. carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC). Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required dimensions. System Layout and Assembly Plan pipe routes to minimise obstructions and maintain efficient flow. Assemble pipe supports, valves and flanges to ensure stability and functionality. Coordination and Communication Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other trades (e.g. welders, electricians) to ensure project timelines and specifications are met. Communicate any design or material issues promptly to supervisors. Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of completed work, material usage and inspection results. Submit daily progress reports and safety compliance logs. Equipment Operation and Maintenance Use specialised tools such as pipe threaders, benders and groovers efficiently. Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure reliability. Problem-Solving Address unexpected challenges, such as material shortages, design discrepancies or system malfunctions. Propose solutions that align with safety and operational standards. Experience & Qualification 3- 5 years’ experience in related field. National Senior Certificate (Matric). Red Seal Certification in Pipe Fitting Good communication skills. Attention to detail. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must be able to perform work duties on his/her own or in a team. Must perform duties according to the Health and Safety standards.
