CNC Setter Vacancy Temp role in Alrode Alberton CNC Setter R 77.04 Per Hour Job Purpose The CNC Setter is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to manufacture components accurately and efficiently according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Set up CNC lathes, milling machines, or machining centres for production. Select and install appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and work-holding equipment. Load and adjust CNC programs as required. Set machine offsets, tool heights, work coordinates, and cutting parameters. Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining specifications. Produce first-off components and conduct dimensional checks. Use measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges. Monitor machine operation and make adjustments to maintain component quality. Identify tooling, machine, and production problems and take corrective action. Complete production and inspection documentation accurately. Maintain tooling, machines, and work areas in good condition. Follow company health and safety procedures and quality requirements. Minimise scrap, machine downtime, and material wastage. Assist operators and junior machinists with technical guidance where required. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent. CNC machining qualification or relevant technical training. 2–5 years' experience as a CNC Setter in an engineering/manufacturing environment. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Good knowledge of CNC machining principles and tooling. Experience with precision measuring instruments. Basic understanding of CNC G-code and machine programming. Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances. Advantageous Experience Experience with CNC turning and/or milling. Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazak, or similar controls. Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems. Experience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminium, or other engineering materials.
