Trade Mark Practitioner/ Attorney Pretoria East, Gauteng Salary: Market Related A well-established law firm is looking for a Trade Mark Practitioner (Attorney) to join their Corporate & Commercial – Trade Marks Department. Minimum requirements: LLB Degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. SAIIPL Trade Mark Examinations – Group 1 & Group 2 completed. Minimum 2 years’ post-admission experience specialising in Intellectual Property Law, with a strong focus on Trade Marks . Proven experience in trade mark portfolio management and advising clients on IP protection strategies. Key Responsibilities Independently manage the Trade Mark division. Conduct trade mark availability and clearance searches and provide strategic advice. Manage local and international trade mark prosecution and registrations. Attend to trade mark assignments, amendments, renewals, recordals and portfolio management. Advise on and enforce trade mark, copyright and related IP rights. Handle trade mark opposition and cancellation proceedings. Draft, review and negotiate IP-related commercial agreements, including licence and coexistence agreements. Handle company name objections and domain name disputes. Conduct legal research and prepare IP opinions. Build and maintain strong client relationships through commercially sound legal advice.
