Field Technician in Lephalale Limpopo Field Technician Location: Lephalale , Limpopo Job Purpose We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Field Technician to support the commissioning, testing, calibration and start-up of field equipment, instrumentation and control systems on industrial project sites. The successful candidate will work as part of a commissioning team and ensure that field equipment is correctly tested, placed into operation and documented in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and client requirements. Key Duties and Responsibilities General Responsibilities Perform commissioning of components, systems and solutions on site. Conduct field loop checks and fault finding. Perform instrument calibration and verification. Conduct instrument quality checks. Install, test and put field equipment and instrumentation into operation. Perform fault finding from the control system through to the final control elements. Identify and troubleshoot instrumentation and field equipment faults. Analyse system behaviour and the interaction between individual system elements. Verify that equipment and instrumentation are functioning correctly and according to specifications. Assist with testing, start-up and commissioning activities. Record and report faults, outstanding work and commissioning progress. Project-Specific Responsibilities Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary commissioning team. Assist with the commissioning and start-up of assigned equipment and systems. Put specific sections of project deliverables into service as part of the larger commissioning team. Conduct required testing and verification activities. Accurately report on the status of assigned work and commissioning deliverables. Complete commissioning check sheets, test records and other required documentation. Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with project requirements. Take responsibility for assigned documentation through to client acceptance. Assist senior technicians and commissioning personnel with troubleshooting and technical activities. Communicate any technical issues, delays or outstanding work to the relevant supervisor or commissioning lead. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 / Matric. Relevant technical qualification, such as: Instrumentation Electrical Process Control Mechatronics Engineering Relevant technical trade qualification Previous experience in a Field Technician, Instrument Technician, Electrical Technician, Commissioning Technician or similar role. Practical experience with field instrumentation and equipment. Experience performing loop checks, instrument calibration and fault finding. Ability to troubleshoot from the control system through to final elements. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams and technical drawings. Basic computer literacy. Good written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's licence will be advantageous/required where site travel is applicable. Must be willing to work on client/industrial sites and travel where required. Must be medically fit for site work where applicable. Ability to work overtime, weekends or shutdown periods when required. Technical Knowledge and Experience The ideal candidate should have knowledge and practical experience in: Field instrumentation. Instrument calibration and testing. Control loops and loop checking. Fault finding and troubleshooting. Sensors, transmitters and control valves. Final control elements. Control systems and field equipment. Industrial automation and process control. Commissioning and start-up procedures. Technical drawings and instrumentation documentation. Quality checks and commissioning documentation. Experience in petrochemical, mining, manufacturing, power generation or other industrial/process environments will be highly advantageous.
