Our client is a well-established insurance brokerage seeking an experienced Internal / Key Accounts Broker to join their Short-Term Insurance division. This role is focused on managing an existing portfolio of clients through proactive underwriting, policy administration, renewals, and retention strategies. The position is office-based and does not require external client visits. You will take ownership of an established client portfolio, ensuring that policies remain appropriately structured, premiums are managed effectively, and clients receive professional advice and support throughout the policy lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with leading insurance providers while maintaining service excellence and building long-term client relationships. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 existing clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive engagement and service delivery. Monitor and manage unpaid premiums, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution. Manage policy renewals, ensuring policies are reviewed, updated, and renewed efficiently. Prepare and present renewal options, policy alternatives, and recommendations. Implement and drive client retention initiatives to maintain portfolio value. Process policy endorsements and amendments accurately and within required timelines. Conduct underwriting activities, including risk assessment and rating. Obtain and compare quotations from various insurers to ensure competitive cover and pricing. Generate quotations for new business opportunities within the existing client base. Conduct daily telephonic and virtual client consultations regarding policy requirements, renewals, endorsements, and cover adjustments. Provide professional guidance on policy terms, excess structures, risk exposure, and insurance solutions. Handle policy cancellations and implement retention measures where appropriate. Coordinate policy-related requirements such as tracking device installations and valuations. Process refunds accurately and timeously. Ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements. Job Experience and Skills Required Matric (Grade 12). RE5 qualification (essential). NQF Level 4 qualification in Financial Services would be advantageous. Minimum 2 years' underwriting experience. Experience in both Personal Lines and Commercial Lines insurance. Previous brokerage experience would be advantageous. Strong understanding of short-term insurance products and underwriting processes. Excellent administrative and organisational skills. Strong communication and relationship management abilities. Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume client portfolio. Strong attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
