Reporting to the Financial Manager , you will be responsible for managing financial reporting processes, strengthening internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic business objectives through accurate and insightful financial information. This role is ideally suited to a technically strong accountant who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, and contributing to the success of the broader organisation. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Management Accounts Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including meaningful analysis and commentary. Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and statutory reporting requirements. Ensure financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered within reporting deadlines. Support the month-end and year-end close processes. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor financial performance against budgets and targets. Provide financial analysis and insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities that impact business performance. Financial Controls & Compliance Maintain and strengthen financial controls and governance processes. Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Support improvements to financial processes and reporting efficiencies. Taxation & Audit Management Assist with VAT, tax, and statutory compliance requirements. Support internal and external audit processes. Prepare audit schedules and ensure timely resolution of audit queries. Ensure accurate and complete supporting documentation is maintained. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Assist with cash flow monitoring and working capital management. Support the effective management of debtors, creditors, and other key balance sheet accounts. Ensure financial obligations are managed in line with company requirements. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Supervise and support junior members of the finance team. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the business. Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members where required. Contribute to a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Requirements Qualifications Relevant Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Completed SAICA Articles will be advantageous. Experience Minimum 2 years' commercial accounting experience. Strong experience in financial reporting and compliance. Exposure to budgeting, management accounts, and financial controls. Experience in a multi-entity or group environment will be advantageous. Technical Skills Experience with Pastel Evolution or a similar ERP/accounting system. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Knowledge of VAT and tax compliance requirements.
