Draughtsman / Project Site Coordinator Location: Lanseria, Gauteng Type: Permanent, full-time About the role We supply and install specialised equipment on commercial and institutional building projects across South Africa and into Africa. Our work runs alongside main contractors, architects and consulting engineers, which means the drawings have to be right and someone has to be on site making sure the installation matches them. This role is roughly half drawing office and half site. You will produce and maintain the drawing set for a project, then follow it through to installation, snagging and handover. What you will do Drawing office Produce equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings and elevations from bills of quantities, specifications and consultant drawings Draw services and reticulation drawings showing points of connection for electrical, water, gas, drainage, compressed air and extraction Coordinate the equipment layout against architectural, structural, HVAC and wet services drawings, and flag clashes early Issue revisions under proper drawing control, keep the register current and mark up as-builts Prepare builder's work drawings, plinth and cut-out details, and shop drawings for fabricated items Compile handover documentation: as-built drawings, O&M manual content and equipment schedules Site Take site measurements before manufacture and check openings, levels and access before delivery Attend site and technical meetings with the main contractor, consultants and subcontractors Coordinate deliveries, offloading, storage and the installation sequence against the construction programme Supervise installation teams and subcontractors on site, and check work against the approved drawings Run snag lists through to close-out and report progress, delays and variations back to the office What you need National Diploma, N-Diploma or equivalent qualification in draughting, mechanical drawing or a related discipline 3 to 7 years' experience in a draughting or technical coordination role Construction site experience is essential. You must be comfortable on an active building site, working to a contractor's programme, and dealing with consultants and subcontractors directly Strong AutoCAD skills. Revit or other BIM experience is a real advantage Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings Working knowledge of SANS and local building regulations as they apply to services and installations Competent in Excel, and comfortable with a project programme in MS Project or similar Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle - Willing to travel within South Africa, and occasionally cross-border, for site visits and installations Advantageous Experience coordinating equipment or plant installations as part of a larger construction contract Experience on hospitality, healthcare, retail or institutional projects Health and safety training (SACPCMP registration, working at heights, first aid) Exposure to stainless steel fabrication or sheet metal work Organised, direct, and able to run several projects at different stages without losing track of revisions
