Our client in the Manufacturing Industry is seeking to employ a Refractory Mason to join their team. Please note that this is a fixed-term contract. Location: Benoni, Gauteng Efficiency Staffing Solutions (Pty) Ltd Registration No. 2022/876857/07 Duties & Responsibilities Removing and installing refractory materials in customer equipment on-site. Read and interpret drawings and blueprints and work by hand or with hand and power tools. Measure accurately from an established starting point, using plumb lines and a mason’s level as necessary. Apply knowledge of various mortars and bonding materials and apply the knowledge to different projects. Utilise hammers, chisels and masonry saws to cut and fit bricks. Line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers and similar installations using refractory or acid-resistant bricks, concretes, plastics or other material. Work effectively both independently and collaboratively with co-workers to meet deadlines and complete projects. Experiment with various materials and methods to solve construction challenges. Ensure that good housekeeping practices are followed. Health and Safety – wear the protective equipment issued to you while working. Follow any lawful instruction required by management. International/Local commissioning and field service – as required for commissioning and on-site work. Ensure all equipment issued to you needed for jobs and projects are kept safe. Experience & Qualification Job-specific knowledge with a minimum qualification of N3 level with necessary Red Seal qualification as a Refractory Mason. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the relevant field. Basic proficiency in relevant technical tools or systems necessary for the role. Ability to work as a team member and participate in projects that involve or impact the entire company. Customer service orientation and emphasis on results, diplomacy, multitasking and priority setting. An understanding of manufacturing processes and technical knowledge. Knowledge about preparing and mixing mortar. Using and maintaining power tool and hand tools. Cutting out and filling masonry joints in ashlar, rubble, and brickwork. Cut and indent new stone pieces. Repairing, replacing, or resetting bricks, furnaces roofs and slabs. Drilling, grouting, and pinning fractured stones, resetting copings. Performing, washing including mechanical and chemical cleaning of masonry surfaces. Required company skills and abilities: The ability to read and write in English (Matric) Good practical skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Good communication skills. Attention to detail. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Must be able to perform work duties on his/her own or in a team. Must perform duties according to the Health and Safety standards. Must work according to the Quality Control Systems. Must be able to work overtime to get projects completed if required.
