One of South Africa's Banking Giants is looking for a Senior Android Developer with a primary focus on EMV to join their team. This role focuses on building and maintaining card machine applications on Android-based POS devices, forming a critical part of the payments technology environment. This is a specialist role combining strong native Android development with hands-on payments experience, with a primary focus on EMV, financial messaging, and the integration of Android applications with payment hardware. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain card machine applications on Android-based POS devices Develop using native Android with Java and/or Kotlin Integrate Android applications with hardware peripherals including card readers, NFC, and PIN pads Develop and maintain hardware integrations using AIDL / IPC Work with EMV protocols for contact and/or contactless transactions Work with ISO 8583 financial messaging Support the integration and maintenance of payment terminal applications Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Android applications, payment hardware, and payments infrastructure The Ideal Candidate Has Minimum 6 years’ experience in Native Android development (Java and/or Kotlin) Hands on experience with EMV protocol (contact and/or contactless) Familiarity to ISO 8583 financial messaging Experience with Android hardware peripheral integration via AIDL / IPC (Card readers, NFC, PIN pads) Advantageous experience with: React Native or Ionic/Capacitor alongside native Android PCI PTS / PA-DSS standards DUKPT or MK-SK key management Payment terminal vendors or fintech environments Prior work at a payment terminal vendor or fintech Education (Minimum) Matric Skills Native Android Development Java and/or Kotlin EMV ISO 8583 AIDL / IPC Android Hardware Integration Card Readers NFC PIN Pads React Native Ionic/Capacitor PCI PTS / PA-DSS DUKPT MK-SK Key Management Should you not receive a response from us within one week of your application, your application has unfortunately not been successful.
