A well-established and rapidly growing organisation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers exposure to multi-entity operations and provides an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic finance function within a fast-paced commercial environment. Purpose of the Role The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, managing reconciliations, and supporting monthly and annual reporting processes across multiple entities. Working closely with senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will provide reliable financial information to support strategic decision-making while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules. Process month-end journals, accruals, and prepayments. Perform detailed variance analysis and investigate significant movements. Ensure adherence to reporting deadlines and finance calendars. Assist with group reporting and financial consolidations. Balance Sheet & General Ledger Management Manage the balance sheet reconciliation process. Investigate and resolve reconciling items. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting schedules. Reconcile intercompany balances and transactions. Tax & Statutory Compliance Prepare VAT returns and supporting reconciliations. Assist with provisional and corporate tax calculations and submissions. Prepare transfer pricing schedules and supporting documentation. Support statutory reporting and ensure compliance with applicable legislation. Fixed Assets & Inventory Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules. Manage IFRS 16 lease accounting schedules. Prepare inventory reconciliations, including goods in transit and landed cost reconciliations. Ensure inventory accounting complies with company policies and accounting standards. Audit & Annual Financial Statements Prepare audit files and supporting documentation. Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements. Liaise with external auditors and address audit queries. Ensure audit requests are resolved accurately and within agreed timelines. Financial Analysis & Systems Analyse financial information and identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Utilise ERP systems, SQL reporting tools, and Power BI to validate and improve reporting. Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, processes, and efficiencies. Support finance system enhancements and automation initiatives. Business Partnering Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams. Support senior finance management with strategic projects and financial analysis. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting. Minimum Requirements Essential Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent professional accounting qualification. Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles. Postgraduate qualification in Accounting (CTA, BCom Honours, or equivalent). Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant role. Strong working knowledge of IFRS . Experience preparing monthly management accounts. Extensive balance sheet reconciliation experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience working with ERP systems. Exposure to SQL, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools. Experience within a distribution, importing, manufacturing, FMCG, retail, or similar commercial environment. Exposure to multi-entity and multi-currency reporting. Advantageous Experience with online marketplace accounting platforms. Knowledge of inventory accounting, landed costs, rebates, and foreign currency transactions. Exposure to finance automation technologies and AI tools. Experience supporting group consolidations and international operations. Key Competencies Strong technical accounting knowledge.
