Techno Park, Stellenbosch. Our client in the aerospace industry is seeking to employ a junior Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer who will be responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and qualification of components and assemblies for satellite communication systems. This role requires a hands-on engineer with 2 years working experience and a strong analytical capability and experience in designing for demanding environments. You will also contribute to technical decision-making and improve engineering processes. Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for satellite communication systems Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings Perform structural (FEA), thermal, and vibration analysis for harsh environments (rocket launch and space) Support environmental qualification testing (vibration, thermal vacuum cycling, etc.) Analyse test data and produce detailed engineering reports Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to optimise producibility and cost Contribute to design reviews and engineering best practices Provide technical support to cross-functional teams (e.g. design and development, sales and marketing) Support efforts to improve mechanical product quality standards, including working with suppliers to address quality issues Requirements BEng / BSc Eng / MEng / MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Aerospace Engineering 2+ years of relevant mechanical design experience Proven experience in mechanical CAD modelling and engineering drawings Strong background in structural (FEA) and/or thermal analysis, including experience with tools MS Office suite Technical Skills CAD (e.g. SolidWorks / RhinoCAD / SolidEdge, etc.) FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS / Abaqus, etc.) Engineering analysis and problem-solving Design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) High-quality report writing
