About this role
To co-ordinate and oversee all commercial and quantity surveying functions on a Project, from initial design and procurement through construction, commissioning, and final account close-out, ensuring delivery within approved budgets, programmes, and contractual requirements. The role supports the Project Manager in achieving the Company’s objectives, protects contractual entitlements, manages commercial risk and opportunity, and builds sustainable relationships with Customers, consultants, suppliers, and Sub-Contractors. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for accurate cost reporting, cash-flow management, subcontract administration and payment, and the development and mentoring of junior quantity surveyors and trainees. Position available for a Quantity Surveyor in Cape Town. REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE: B.Sc. Quantity Surveying/ BTech Quantity Surveying Proficient computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, etc.) CCS – Candy, BuildSMART 8 years’ experience on general or major construction sites involving the control of several activities Renewable / HV Electrical industry beneficial Cost control & commercial experience required Valid Code 08 driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required Experience in renewable energy, substations, transmission lines, rail electrification or other HV electrical infrastructure will be advantageous Competence in cost forecasting, cost-to-complete, cash-flow forecasting, monthly commercial reporting and change control Experience in subcontract procurement, commercial administration, progress measurement, payment certification and final account close-out Working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, GCC and/or JBCC forms of contract and applicable standard methods of measurement SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Management Commercial/ Quantity Surveying/ Contractual issues Subordinate management HR management Communication Contract management Subcontractor commercial management and payments Cost forecasting, reporting and cash-flow control Change, claims and commercial risk management Procurement and contract close-out Planning and organizing Human resource planning and management Management control and systems Reports Meetings Managing Stakeholder relations Project specific Kindly apply if you meet the minimum requirements.
